The Cape Breton Women’s Gallery, located in the New Dawn Centre for Social Innovation, celebrates women from across the Island who have made meaningful and significant contributions to our families, communities, the Island, and the country.
As artists, activists, policy makers, teachers, nurturers, politicians, elders, athletes, musicians, immigrants, farmers, volunteers, and business owners, the women of Cape Breton have shaped who we are today. They have shaped our spirits, our minds, our hearts, and our communities.
Through images and text, the Cape Breton Women’s Gallery displays the stories of women who have lived and loved across Cape Breton Island. It begins, in a small way, to capture the many and diverse contributions made over time by our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, and friends.
It celebrates, remembers, shares, and honours.
