Several students from Cape Breton University shared their culture with Meals on Wheels clients during a September Takeover initiative.
The takeover, hosted by A Better Bite Community Kitchen, allowed participants to prepare a traditional beef noodle dish and cucumber salad which was then delivered to clients of the New Dawn Meals on Wheels program.
“We love giving our clients as much variety and different food experiences as possible,” said Claire Turpin, Manager, New Dawn Meals on Wheels. “The meal was definitely a hit as we received an abundance of positive feedback and gratitude from our clients.”
“Through initiatives like our September Takeover, we hope to create a space around food and nutrition, and build a community which fosters a culture of healthy food consumption and education,” says Turpin.
New Dawn Meals on Wheels is a charitable, volunteer-driven program committed to fostering independence and quality of life by providing affordable nutrition services. Each year, the program provides approximately 9,000 hot and nutritious meals to people in our community who are unable to prepare meals for themselves. All meals are delivered to the doorsteps by a team of friendly and dedicated volunteers.
